Amcor has introduced its new AmSecure thermoformed trays and rollstock, part of the company’s HealthCare portfolio. The APET-based packaging is designed for medical and pharmaceutical applications, offering an alternative to PETG while maintaining clarity, durability and sterilisation compatibility.

According to the company, the switch to APET delivers comparable performance to PETG while offering cost and sustainability benefits. AmSecure is compatible with standard sterilisation methods and was developed to accommodate multiple raw material supply options to strengthen supply chain continuity and reliability.

“AmSecure represents a significant advancement in healthcare packaging by delivering APET-based thermoformed solutions that match the mechanical and visual performance of PETG, while offering cost efficiency and a path towards recyclability,” said Art Castro, vice president of Amcor Flexibles Healthcare in North America. “The Amcor solution meets the critical needs of customers without compromising production and line performance.”

AmSecure is certified to meet or exceed the voluntary requirements for APR Design for Recyclability Recognition from the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR).

The launch follows Amcor’s expansion of thermoforming capacity at its Oshkosh, Wisconsin facility to meet growing demand. The AmSecure platform will also be supported by a full range of compatible lids and pouches, offering a complete packaging portfolio for healthcare applications.
