Now is not the time to cut back on investment in your team, your business and the wider industry. The APPMA isn't. Instead, it is supporting the industry by launching a free digital lunchtime series on Investing in Resilience.

The APPMA was gearing up to host its Business and Industry conference in Sydney in September as a hybrid event. While the event was structured to enable both in-person and virtual participation, the option of transitioning to a fully virtual event was deemed unacceptable due to a compromise of the experience and value that speakers, sponsors and attendees require and expect from the event and the APPMA as an industry association.

So, the APPMA Business & Industry Conference will ‘reframe’ as a free digital lunchtime series with the same topic, Investing in Resilience.

APPMA’s CEO Michael Moran said the pandemic has put a stop to many business and industry conferences, events and meetings, but he wanted to make sure the APPMA invested in a strong Australian manufacturing recovery.

“Right now our members and non-members need high quality information, insights and education and the critical takeaways from these sessions are too important and urgent to defer until 2022,” he said.

All key notes and panel discussions from the conference will still take place.

“The keynote and panel sessions feature a mix of high-profile industry experts and international thought leaders covering a range of topics essential for the ongoing development, growth and protection of the manufacturing sector in Australia.”

This move to a 100 per cent online series allows everyone the opportunity to ask questions through the live Q&A, and network with fellow industry professionals and speakers in the online meeting hub.

The new dates throughout September 2021 are as follows.
• Friday 17th September 12.30 - 1.45pm
Manufacturing: Adapting to the new normal
• Thursday 24th September 12.30 - 1.30pm (Thursday due to VIC public holiday on Fri 24th).
Cyber Security: Risk in the new world and industry 4.0
• Friday 1st October 12.30 - 1.30pm
Industry 4.0 - What Next?

Key topics to be covered include:
• The challenges and recovery opportunities facing the manufacturing sector;
• Practical tools required to help navigate and protect your business from cyber threats;
• Innovations and opportunities associated with Industry 4.0; and
• Securing a sustainable and resilient future.

Registrations for these sessions will be available on 11 August. All those with previously purchased tickets will be refunded in full.

“The previously planned case studies and technical presentations will be deferred until May 2022 where they can be incorporated into the AUSPACK and Packaging and Processing week events and activities where the necessary in person interaction and engagement can once again be included,” Moran said.

“We do not believe the current circumstances warrant or justify doing nothing, and we wanted to invest in the resilience and ongoing development, growth and protection of the manufacturing sector in Australia, which will be one of the engine rooms of our recovery.”
