At interpack 2026, machinery and systems supplier Syntegon used its Düsseldorf showcase to outline a reimagined vision for the 'Factory of the Future' – a manufacturing environment designed to be seamless, smart and increasingly touchless.

PKN attended the company’s stand presentation, where Syntegon positioned rising cost pressures, labour shortages, flexibility demands and tightening regulation as the key forces reshaping packaging and processing operations across food, pharma and biotech manufacturing.

Central to the company’s messaging was the idea that future production environments will become increasingly self-regulating, supported by AI-assisted human oversight and driven by real-time operational data.

Speaking at the stand, Syntegon CEO Torsten Türling said the company’s approach centres on co-development with customers.

“At interpack, we demonstrate the power of our COCREATE and COSUCCEED concept. Game-changing innovations, jointly developed with pioneering customers, deliver greater business impact,” Türling said.

“Our innovation highlights, neXt and SVX, raise the bar in the food sector. For pharma operations, SynTiso sets a new standard as a first-of-its-kind high-speed gloveless liquid pharmaceutical filling line.”

neXt platform targets smarter food operations

For food manufacturers, Syntegon presented its new neXt system solution, designed to support faster changeovers, improved operational efficiency and simplified machine interaction.

The company said the platform responds to increasing pressure on manufacturers to handle greater product variation while reducing downtime and training requirements.

According to Syntegon, the neXt concept combines seamless machine operation with smart data-driven performance monitoring and touchless controls. Real-time operational data is intended to support improved overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), while a simplified user experience aims to reduce operator intervention and training demands.

The company said the platform has been designed to help food manufacturers adapt more quickly to evolving retailer requirements, sustainability demands and shifting consumer preferences.

SVX platform pushes speed and material reduction

Another major focus at the stand was Syntegon’s SVX vertical packaging platform.

The company claims the platform can operate at speeds of up to 300 bags per minute, while also enabling rapid format changeovers across different bag styles.

Material reduction was a key talking point. Syntegon said patented technology integrated into the SVX platform can reduce packaging material consumption by up to 50 per cent, while its compact footprint is intended to maximise productivity within existing factory space.

The emphasis on higher throughput without facility expansion aligned closely with broader interpack themes around efficiency, automation and factory optimisation.

SynTiso targets contamination-free pharma filling

In the pharmaceutical sector, Syntegon showcased its SynTiso liquid filling solution, developed in collaboration with two global pharmaceutical companies.

The system replaces traditional human intervention with gloveless isolator technology, fully robotised operation and contactless container transport.

According to the company, the approach is designed to help pharmaceutical manufacturers meet increasingly stringent contamination-control requirements for injectable biologics production.

Syntegon said the system can deliver 50 per cent faster changeovers alongside increased output per batch run.

The development reflects a broader shift across pharmaceutical manufacturing toward higher levels of automation, contamination control and robotic handling.

Lifecycle services part of long-term strategy

Beyond machinery platforms, Syntegon also used interpack to reinforce its positioning as a long-term lifecycle services partner.

The company outlined a support model spanning factory planning, engineering, project execution, field service and AI-supported line upgrades designed to improve long-term performance and uptime.

The message resonated strongly with wider interpack discussions around connected manufacturing, predictive maintenance and future-proofing capital investment.

Across the show floor, exhibitors increasingly framed machinery not simply as standalone equipment, but as part of integrated and continuously optimised production ecosystems – an approach Syntegon placed firmly at the centre of its “re:imagining” strategy.
