Abbe is reshaping its packaging offering with a stronger focus on integrated solutions designed to improve efficiency, flexibility and supply chain performance. PKN reports.
As packaging supply chains become more complex and customer expectations rise, businesses are looking for suppliers that can deliver reliability, responsiveness and broader operational support.
For Abbe, that shift is shaping a strategy focused on capability, integration and long-term partnerships.
A key part of this has been the integration of Oji Fibre Solutions operations into the Abbe business, expanding the company’s national footprint across corrugated, fibre and timber packaging.
According to Abbe, the move strengthens its ability to deliver more integrated packaging solutions while improving responsiveness and production flexibility for customers operating in fast-moving sectors.
The expanded capability comes at a time when manufacturers, growers and distributors are under increasing pressure to improve supply chain efficiency while maintaining consistency and service levels.
Supporting this growth is the recent opening of Abbe Industrial Packaging’s new facility in Dandenong South, Victoria.
Located within Melbourne’s south-eastern industrial corridor, the site increases production capacity for pallets and timber packaging solutions, while also serving as Abbe’s south-eastern Melbourne sales office.
The facility supports both local and export timber pallet requirements across a range of industries and applications.
Alongside investment in infrastructure, Abbe is continuing to focus on industry partnerships and customer engagement.
The company maintains an ongoing partnership with the Family Business Association (FBA), reflecting what it says are shared values around long-term stewardship, governance and sustainable growth.
Abbe has also strengthened its presence at industry events including Hort Connections and CeMAT, using the platforms to engage directly with growers, producers, eCommerce operators and supply chain businesses.
At Hort Connections, the company sponsored the new Family Business of the Year award, recognising innovation and resilience within the horticulture sector.
NEW PARTNERSHIP
Abbe has also expanded its automation offering through a new distribution partnership with Ranpak Automation, an American company with machines designed, built, and developed in Europe.
The partnership complements Abbe’s existing relationship with CMC and broadens its ability to supply automated packaging systems alongside corrugated packaging solutions.
Through the agreement, Abbe will offer Ranpak technologies including the Cut’it! EVO and Flap’it systems, designed to optimise pack sizes, reduce material consumption and improve packing efficiency.
Daniel O’Sullivan, group sales and marketing director at Abbe, said, “This partnership reinforces our strategy of delivering more than just packaging – it’s about providing complete, scalable solutions that align with our customers’ evolving needs.”
The automation offering is aimed at sectors including eCommerce, retail fulfilment and third-party logistics, where operational efficiency, freight optimisation and sustainability outcomes are increasingly linked.
According to Abbe, the Ranpak systems can help reduce carton and void space while lowering freight volumes and associated environmental impacts.
The company says the combination of cardboard packaging materials, automation systems and national manufacturing capability positions it to better support customers seeking more streamlined and scalable packaging operations.
