Superior Pump Technologies is promoting the Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Universal 2 ND Series positive displacement pumps, which are designed for clean-in-place (CIP) applications and are available with an optional flat body profile and free-draining vertical ports.

The pumps are rated for pressures up to 500psi (34.5bar), temperatures up to 149°C, and are available in 14 sizes from 1in to 6in. They come standard with 150lb flanges and a 316L stainless steel body and cover.

According to Superior Pump Technologies, the pumps are designed to start when filled with settled slurries without damaging the pump or seals, while water-flushed seals provide dry-running capability. The design is also intended to minimise damage to shear-sensitive products, deliver pulsation-free flow to reduce system vibration and wear, eliminate oil seepage into the product zone, and operate with no internal rotor contact.

Other features include bi-directional flow, with rotors secured by locking washers and torqued nuts, three-way mounting of the gear case including vertical port alignment, and optional diffusion-hardened rotor, body and cover surfaces for abrasive or chemically aggressive environments.

The pumps also feature a rotor nut designed to resist loosening during extended service, no bearings in the product zone to minimise wear and corrosion, large diameter 17-4 PH shafts to increase strength and stiffness, a heavy-duty bearing frame with an optional stainless steel version, double tapered roller bearings for rotor positioning, grease-lubricated bearings, wave spring loading to extend outer seal life compared with traditional O-rings, and non-critical shaft timing intended to simplify maintenance.

Superior Pump Technologies says the Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Universal 2 ND Series is suitable for industrial products including slurries, adhesives, collagen, starches, emulsions, glycols, greases, chemical compounds, filler, polymers, waxes, and other difficult-to-pump products.
