Robatech has updated its cold glue application offering with the introduction of Polaris, a spray head for dispersion adhesives designed for paper wrapping, lightweight cartons and robot-assisted applications.

The system applies cold glue with a consistent application width, aimed at maintaining process reliability and reducing contamination on production lines. The company says this is particularly relevant for robot-assisted cold glue application and paper pallet wrapping.

Polaris is designed for solvent-free dispersion adhesives up to 4000 mPas and uses an electric drive to deliver swirl application. Application parameters, including spray air, adhesive pressure, viscosity and distance to the substrate, can be adjusted.

To address cleaning requirements typically associated with dispersion adhesives, the spray head includes dry-out protection through nozzle closure technology. This removes the need for manual nozzle cleaning during short production interruptions, according to the company. The design also excludes dynamic seals, positioning the unit as low maintenance.

The 24 VDC electric head can be controlled via PLC or Robatech’s Sirius control unit.

Robatech says dispersion adhesives offer economic advantages in product gluing but can be cleaning-intensive and demanding, which Polaris is intended to address through its design and operation.

Robatech develops adhesive application systems including control systems, application heads, melters and dosing systems. Headquartered in Muri/AG, Switzerland, the company operates in more than 80 countries and employs more than 670 people.
