Wood will take on responsibility for leading Fromm Packaging Australia into its next phase of growth, building on the company’s solid performance and longstanding reputation for quality, customer service and innovation in the packaging industry.

Fromm Packaging Australia acknowledged the “exceptional contribution” of Layton, who had been instrumental in the business since joining Australian Warehouse Solutions in 1990.

Over his tenure as managing director, Layton had shaped the company’s growth across Australia by driving product innovation, delivering advanced automation solutions, building long-standing industry partnerships, and overseeing the successful transition and vertical integration of Australian Warehouse Solutions into Fromm Packaging Australia in 2013.

According to the company, his leadership had laid a strong foundation for continued success and future growth.

“It has been a privilege to be a part of this business since joining Australian Warehouse Solutions in 1990 and to have led its evolution into the nationwide company it is today,” said Layton.

“I am proud of what our team has achieved and confident in the leadership and direction of the business moving forward under Graeme’s guidance.”

In transitioning into his new role, Wood will lead the organisation’s strategic direction and advance operations across Australia.

Wood brings over 25 years of experience across the logistics and building industries, with strong expertise in senior stakeholder engagement, strategic partnerships, business development, export operations and sales leadership.

“I am pleased to take on the role of managing director at Fromm Packaging Australia and to continue building on the strong legacy and enduring success of the Fromm business,” said Wood.

“My focus will be on supporting our customers, investing in our people, and driving excellence across all business streams.”

According to Matthias Schwarzenbach, chief executive officer of Fromm Holdings, the appointment reflects the company’s confidence in Wood's capabilities to drive growth and deliver value across the Australian market.

“This leadership transition underscores our long-term commitment to the Australian market and the continued strength of the Fromm business,” Schwarzenbach continued.

“Graeme’s appointment provides continuity and positions Fromm Packaging Australia for sustained growth.

“We extend our sincere thanks to Richard for his significant contribution over many years and welcome his ongoing support of Graeme throughout 2026 to ensure a seamless transition.”

The leadership transition will be supported by Fromm Packaging Australia’s executive team to ensure continuity and sustained momentum in serving customers and advancing the company’s market position.

Fromm Packaging designs and manufactures strapping, wrapping and protective equipment, supplying its packaging solutions to a diverse range of Australian industries, including timber, metal, food and beverage, logistics and warehousing.
