ELGi Equipments is supporting Australian manufacturers with Air~Alert, an IoT-enabled air compressor monitoring platform designed to improve reliability, maintenance planning, and energy efficiency.

As manufacturers adopt digitalisation and Industry 4.0 technologies, the company says the ability to monitor and manage critical equipment remotely is becoming increasingly important. It describes compressed air systems as the “fourth utility” in manufacturing, requiring real-time visibility into performance to support productivity, reliability, and operating costs.

Air~Alert is designed for both new and existing compressor installations, combining real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and cloud-based reporting to provide insight into compressor health and performance.

The company says the system provides continuous, 24/7 remote monitoring of compressor operating conditions, with operational data acquired from the compressor controller and transmitted to cloud servers using encrypted communication protocols. This data is analysed to generate alerts, trends, and recommendations intended to support equipment performance and reliability.

ELGi Equipments says users can access real-time information remotely, allowing decisions to be based on equipment performance data. The platform provides visibility of operating parameters including discharge pressure, oil temperature, variable frequency drive (VFD) speed where applicable, total running hours, compressor trips, and active alarms and system alerts.

Dashboards and trend graphs allow users to track compressor behaviour over time and better understand system performance.

The company says Air~Alert supports a shift from routine, interval-based servicing to predictive maintenance. By analysing compressor operating data and identifying performance patterns, the system detects early warning signs of potential failures before they impact operations, enabling maintenance teams to take corrective action and reduce unplanned downtime and repair costs.

According to ELGi Equipments, the platform also notifies customers and authorised dealers of upcoming maintenance requirements, fault occurrences, and operational anomalies. Monthly health reports provide an overview of compressor performance, service requirements, operating trends, and recommended preventive actions.

In addition to maintenance and reliability, the company says Air~Alert provides insight into energy use. Based on utilisation trends and operating data, the platform identifies opportunities to optimise compressor pressure bands, assess compressor sizing against actual utilisation, detect compressed air leaks through changes in consumption patterns, and evaluate upgrades such as moving from fixed-speed to VFD technology.

ELGi Equipments says the system is intended to support connected operations and data-driven asset management by providing visibility of compressor performance and enabling more proactive maintenance planning and asset utilisation.

Air~Alert is available on ELGi EG, AB, and OF Series compressors, and is compatible with retrofit installations equipped with Neuron III, III+, or IV controllers.
