The event underscored the critical value of collaboration between major industry bodies – AMPC, AMIC, MLA and APPMA – in driving innovation and ensuring that outcomes deliver direct benefits to members and the wider sector.

A highlight of the showcase was the announcement by Denni Egan that Meat Industry Day will return to the APPEX show floor in 2027. The event is a collaborative partnership between APPMA, AMPC, the Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) and Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA). Its reprisal reinforces APPEX as the central industry event for the entire processing and packaging sector, including the protein supply chain. More details here.

The Innovation Showcase also coincided with the Multivac Industry Dinner, where AMPC launched its inaugural industry awards. These celebrate achievements in environmental performance, workplace innovation, continuous improvement, innovation leadership, and excellence in R&D collaboration.

Across the event, delegates gained valuable insights into the intersection of production, processing, packaging and sustainability, with updates on cutting-edge research powered by AMPC.

AMPC shared details of its Knowledge Hub, a new online platform where red meat processors can access reliable, up-to-date resources and training. Developed in response to industry feedback, AMPC says it will help processors of all sizes improve skills, meet compliance, implement new technology and drive performance by ensuring they have the latest knowledge, tools and training at their fingertips.

As APPMA CEO Michael Moran noted, “This partnership is a testament to what we can achieve as a sector by working together. The return of Meat Industry Day to APPEX in 2027 will create an unmissable opportunity for the entire supply chain to connect, learn and innovate.”

Alcohol has long been part of Australia’s social and cultural fabric, but today’s consumers are taking a more intentional approach. Rather than simply drinking less, many are becoming more deliberate about the role they want each drink to play, choosing beverages that best suit the moment and the experience they want to create. ADM’s APAC Beverages marketing director, Sarah Lim, writes.

While The a2 Milk Company (a2MC) grew revenue 12.4 per cent to $1.97 billion in FY26, its reported EBITDA and net profit both went backwards due to stock issues in Q4 with its China label infant formula driving consumers to switch brands.
