The Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) will deepen its engagement with the red meat processing sector when it takes part in the AMPC Innovation Showcase 2025, to be held on 10–11 September at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Hosted by the Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC), the two-day event will bring together processors and industry participants from across the country to explore innovative ideas, emerging technologies and practical solutions shaping the sector’s future. The program features world-class speakers, panel discussions and interactive workshops on sustainability, advanced manufacturing and workforce development.

Sessions will include topics such as automation in processing plants, technology adoption strategies and approaches to workforce attraction and retention. These themes align closely with APPMA’s mission to drive automation, innovation and sustainable growth across the processing and packaging value chain.

At its stand, APPMA will also provide information on APPEX 2027, Australasia’s largest processing and packaging trade show. Held every three years, APPEX attracts more than 400 exhibitors and 12,000 industry professionals, offering a platform where partnerships are formed and the industry’s future direction is set.

Beyond its flagship exhibition, APPMA’s advocacy work and collaborative approach provide members – including those in the red meat sector – with access to networks, expertise and solutions that can improve operational efficiency and competitiveness. The Association’s presence at the Innovation Showcase highlights the growing intersection between processing, packaging and the red meat industry’s evolving needs, from advanced robotics and smarter packaging to meeting sustainability targets.

For APPMA, the event represents an opportunity to demonstrate how processing and packaging expertise can directly support the red meat sector’s innovation journey, while building connections that translate into practical outcomes for industry.

Food & Drink Business

Building towards its next phase of growth, Bush’s Proteins has bolstered its team with the appointment of John Edgley as chief development officer and Aaron Yule as head of people.

Alcohol has long been part of Australia’s social and cultural fabric, but today’s consumers are taking a more intentional approach. Rather than simply drinking less, many are becoming more deliberate about the role they want each drink to play, choosing beverages that best suit the moment and the experience they want to create. ADM’s APAC Beverages marketing director, Sarah Lim, writes.

While The a2 Milk Company (a2MC) grew revenue 12.4 per cent to $1.97 billion in FY26, its reported EBITDA and net profit both went backwards due to stock issues in Q4 with its China label infant formula driving consumers to switch brands.
