At Industrial Transformation Australia 2026, held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 23–25 June, APPMA took centre stage as the event's major industry partner, hosting the dedicated Processing & Packaging Pavilion.
The pavilion created a hub for manufacturers, distributors and importers of processing and packaging technology, showcasing the innovations and expertise helping shape the future of Australian manufacturing. From AI-driven quality control and robotics to sustainable materials and connected production environments, exhibitors demonstrated how automation and digital integration are transforming operations across the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, e-commerce and broader manufacturing sectors.
I had the pleasure of hosting the processing and packaging stream on the Innovation Stage, with APPMA curating a full day of presentations and panel discussions. The program focused on the practical challenges facing manufacturers, exploring the technologies, strategies and investment decisions that will influence the industry's next phase of growth.
Sessions covered topics ranging from data and AI in sustainable protein production to sustainable packaging and cyber resilience. Panel discussions examined sovereign manufacturing capability and the commercial realities of closed-loop recycling, highlighting the industry's growing focus on resilience, sustainability and productivity.
The strong attendance throughout the pavilion reflected the industry's appetite for practical insights and meaningful collaboration. Many visitors registered specifically to access APPMA's dedicated content program, reinforcing the value of creating a space where suppliers, manufacturers and industry leaders could exchange ideas and experiences.
For APPMA, the event also demonstrated the strength of our partnership with Hannover Fairs Australia. Together, we are creating opportunities to connect our members with the wider manufacturing community while showcasing innovation between our flagship industry events.
As APPMA chief executive officer Michael Moran observed, Industrial Transformation Australia provided an opportunity to demonstrate how processing and packaging technologies are contributing to Australia's manufacturing capability while helping businesses navigate the challenges of automation, sustainability and global competitiveness.
The Processing & Packaging Pavilion reinforced that the future of manufacturing depends not only on advances in technology, but on collaboration across the processing, packaging and manufacturing value chain.
