With sharks and manta rays circling the room (behind glass of course), Marguccio addressed the APPMA crowd with the good news that plans for APPEX 2027 are fast taking shape under the guidance of the APPEX committee, headed by Nathan Wardell of Packserv, and show organisers Exhibitions & Trade Fairs (ETF).

Marguccio revealed, with ETF director Jon Perry's confirmation, that exhibition space at the industry's foremost packaging and processing trade show is already 80 per cent sold, as interest mounts ahead of the global megashow interpack taking place on 2-13 May 2026. APPEX will take place in Melbourne on 16-19 March 2027.

Representing  interpack at the APPMA event was Robert Laing, ANZ liaison for German Trade Fair organiser, Messe Dusseldorf. Laing issued assurances, that despite current tensions in the Middle East, the interpack management team is confident of a strong showing of exhibitors.

Both Marguccio and Laing reminded attendees about the ANZ networking event taking place during interpack on Saturday 9 May, and encouraged interested parties to register for catering purposes.

The evening was well attended, with members already looking forward to the next event set for June in Adelaide, ahead of the Hort 2026 show.

Building towards its next phase of growth, Bush’s Proteins has bolstered its team with the appointment of John Edgley as chief development officer and Aaron Yule as head of people.

Alcohol has long been part of Australia’s social and cultural fabric, but today’s consumers are taking a more intentional approach. Rather than simply drinking less, many are becoming more deliberate about the role they want each drink to play, choosing beverages that best suit the moment and the experience they want to create. ADM’s APAC Beverages marketing director, Sarah Lim, writes.

While The a2 Milk Company (a2MC) grew revenue 12.4 per cent to $1.97 billion in FY26, its reported EBITDA and net profit both went backwards due to stock issues in Q4 with its China label infant formula driving consumers to switch brands.
