AUSPACK exhibitor JMP Engineering says Australian companies can follow the lead of PepsiCo in the US, which is reusing its pallet outers up to 12 times.

Pail Vassallo, general manager at JMP for Australia and New Zealand said, "We have supplied an entire line to PepsiCo. The product recipient has to send the outer back to PepsiCo, and if they fail to do so, then just like with not returning pallets, they get charged.

"The new system with a case line by JMP is seeing the same outer casing being reused multiple times. There is no reason why Australian manufacturing businesses should not be implementing similar systems, which would clearly be environmentlally beneficial."

JMP has a robot stacker on its stand demonstrating its labour saving capabilities. The company produces a range of palletising and packaging solutions including carton palletising, bag palletising, de-palletising, and stretch wrapping systems.
