Pack Print International will focus on the mega-trends shaping the future of the industry, at what it bills as Southeast Asia’s biggest packaging and printing exhibition since 2007.

The Asia-Pacific print packaging market is the largest in the world, according to organisers, accounting for more than 42 per cent of global packaging revenues. The theme of this year’s exhibition, “Shaping the future of packaging and printing in Asia”, reflects its commitment to promoting innovation in the region, organisers, which include The Thai Printing Association, The Thai Packaging Association, and Messe Düsseldorf Asia, say.

More than 300 companies from 25 countries will be in attendance, including HP, Heidelberg, Konica Minolta, Riso, Fujifilm, Ricoh, Bobst, Koenig & Bauer, Fuji Xerox, KURZ, Zund, Duplo, Sansin, Selic Corp, and PMC Label Materials.

The show floor will highlight four themed zones: One-Stop Pack and Print Pavilion; Labelling Zone; Logistics and Automation Zone; and a dedicated Prototype Showcase, plus industry conferences and forums.

According to Manit Kamolsuwan, president of the Thai Packaging Association, innovation and technology are the keys to remaining competitive.

“Over the next decade, the packaging industry will witness a significant revolution as the applications of digital printing increases.

“Therefore, it is important for local businesses to align themselves with the global digital packaging printing market – in coming out with attractive, cost efficient and sustainable products for an increasingly crowded and competitive marketplace,” he said.

Phongthira Pattanapiradej, president of the Thai Printing Association, also had advice for specific areas of investment to spur growth.

“Look towards high-quality, high-fidelity printing; hybrid printing; automation processes; and ‘smart factory’ set-up in line with “Packaging 4.0”; as well as customisation in digital printing and environmentally friendly, affordable packaging,” he said.

Pack Print International will be held at BITEC in Bangkok, Thailand, from 18-21 September.
