The 16,300-square-metre facility is undergoing equipment commissioning, with full production scheduled to begin in August. It will initially employ more than 50 people from the local community.

According to the company, local manufacturing will improve supply chain reliability, reduce lead times and provide greater operational flexibility for US customers.

Sascha Detmold Cox, chief executive officer of parent company Detmold Group, said opening the facility was an important milestone for the business.

“It allows us to better support our customers with locally-manufactured products and reinforces our commitment to the US market where we have been supplying customers from our international plants for over 20 years. We’re focused on building long-term partnerships and delivering the same level of service, innovation and reliability that our customers experience globally.”

Detpak supplies packaging to global quick service restaurants, foodservice, FMCG and retail brands, including McDonald’s, KFC, Starbucks and Wendy’s.
