CCL Industries has completed its acquisition of shrink sleeve specialist Sleever International, strengthening its position in the global packaging and labelling market.

The transaction adds Sleever’s label, film and application equipment businesses to the CCL group, serving consumer packaged goods and healthcare customers worldwide.

The acquisition includes Sleever International Company SA, its subsidiaries and related companies, which manufacture shrink sleeve labels, extruded films and application equipment.

Under the new ownership structure, the acquired label operations will be integrated into CCL Label, while the film business will become part of Innovia Films. The application equipment division will continue to operate under the Sleever brand.

CCL Industries president and chief executive officer Geoffrey T. Martin said former principal shareholder Eric Fresnel would remain involved with the business in an advisory capacity.

“I am pleased that Sleever’s former principal shareholder, Eric Fresnel, has been retained in an advisory capacity while Guenther Birkner, president of CCL Label’s Food & Beverage sector and Innovia Films, will now have overall responsibility for this acquisition with immediate effect,” Martin said.

The acquisition further expands CCL’s presence in the shrink sleeve packaging segment, which is widely used across food, beverage, personal care and healthcare markets for high-impact, full-body product decoration.

CCL Industries is a global supplier of speciality labels, security products and packaging solutions. The company employs approximately 26,000 people across 214 production facilities in 42 countries and is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbols CCL.A and CCL.B.
