Australian B Corp and sustainable packaging company BioPak has acquired Australian-based reusable cup enterprise Huskee in a move to strengthen circular solutions.

The new deal marks a significant partnership and alignment that is set to fast-track and strengthen both BioPak and Huskee’s shared vision towards a circular economy and a world without waste.

Commenting on the acquisition, Gary Smith, CEO of BioPak, highlighted the growth and core opportunities that lie in the reusables market.

“This partnership opens the door to an array of exciting new circular solution reusable products and services that will be seamlessly integrated into BioPak’s offering, enabling us to better serve our ever-expanding global customer base,” Smith said.

“BioPak’s long-term strategic direction is to drive significant investment into the reusable market, with Huskee’s impressive cup exchange program and end-of-life recycling program being perfectly aligned with our vision towards circularity.”

Founded in 2017, Huskee is a Sydney-based company that designs functional products that utilise waste and recycled materials, eliminating the need for single use products.

Saxon Wright, founder of Huskee, sees the acquisition as a defining milestone to further amplify innovation and enable a transition to a waste-free world.

“At Huskee, we recognise that a vision of having a waste-free world is one that cannot be done on our own, but one that needs collaboration across industries,” explained Wright.

Huskee will continue to operate with the same team, with the new ownership accelerating the expansion and release of new products – building upon the brand’s sustainable and ethical business practices.

In addition to its product range, Huskee offers customers and businesses sustainable systems to reduce waste further.

Through their cup exchange program HuskeeSwap, and end-of-life recycling program HuskeeLoop, the company delivers circular economy outcomes with the lowest possible environmental footprint.
