In the 2025 Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) Board elections, Mark Emmett of HMPS, Matt Nichol of Matthews Australasia and Peter Bradbury of ABB have all been re-elected, reaffirming their continued leadership within Australia’s packaging and processing machinery sector.
The results were formally announced at the APPMA Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 21 October, following what was described as a close and energetic campaign, reflected in lively engagement across industry channels and social media.
APPMA CEO Michael Moran said the association was pleased with the strong level of member participation.
“The 2025 director voting process utilising the BigPulse system went extremely well, with over 50 per cent of members participating in the vote,” Moran said.
“BigPulse is a world-renowned, robust and independent electronic voting platform that provides guaranteed security, auditability and integrity. This is the seventh year we’ve used it, ensuring every APPMA full member can vote in a confidential and transparent way.”
Moran congratulated the successful candidates and acknowledged the professionalism of all nominees.
“We thank all candidates for their commitment to shaping the future of our industry. The voluntary contribution made by APPMA directors is invaluable as we continue to promote and support members, strengthen the broader manufacturing sector, and prepare for APPEX 2027.”
Matt Nichol, sales manager at Matthews Australasia, said he was grateful for the trust placed in him by members.
“I’m genuinely honoured to be re-elected to the APPMA Board and grateful to everyone who took part in the process,” he said. “I’m committed to continuing to help strengthen Australian manufacturing by supporting collaboration, innovation and capability across every sector.”
Mark Emmett, CEO of HMPS ProPac, echoed that sentiment. “My sincere thanks to the members for their confidence and support,” he said. “I look forward to building on the progress we’ve made together and to maximising the new opportunities that lie ahead for our organisation and the industry.”
Peter Bradbury, channel manager – Robotics at ABB Australia, said: “I'm delighted to have the opportunity to further serve the APPMA membership as the association continues to evolve our support of the entire packaging and processing sector. I'm looking forward to APPEX 2027, which will once again be a highlight on the industry's calendar, creating business opportunities for our members and the wider industry.”

The value of APPMA
APPMA plays a pivotal role in representing the interests of machinery manufacturers and suppliers across Australia and New Zealand. As the peak body for the sector, APPMA supports companies with education, innovation, and business opportunities, while advocating for the importance of advanced manufacturing in Australia’s industrial landscape.
Behind its initiatives stands a volunteer Board made up of experienced industry leaders who contribute their time and expertise to guide the association’s direction, strengthen member engagement, and champion collaboration across the value chain. Their work often takes place behind the scenes – shaping training programs, industry events, and policy dialogue – yet it underpins the APPMA’s success in fostering a connected, forward-looking packaging and processing community.
As APPMA moves towards its next major milestone with APPEX 2027, the re-elected Board’s continuity ensures that momentum is maintained and that members’ voices continue to be represented at the highest level.
