Shanghai World of Packaging (swop) is now operating as interpack China, reflecting its decade-long place within the interpack alliance and placing the packaging focus at the forefront of the event’s identity.

The new branding was presented at the opening of this year’s show. According to the company, the shift is intended to align the Shanghai event more closely with interpack’s global packaging network and emphasise the scale of the Chinese market.

Thomas Dohse, director of interpack and interpack alliance, said the new name “highlights this connection and instantly adds recognition value”. He said interpack China “brings together international and Chinese companies, granting exhibitors direct access to one of the most exciting and rapidly-growing packaging markets in the world”.

Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. will continue as joint organisers of interpack China, held this year at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 25 to 27 November 2025.

Evian Gu, general manager of Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai, said, “This is more than just a new name. interpack China represents our even closer connection to the global packaging ecosystem and our aim to bring international perspectives to the Chinese market.” Gu said the organisers intend to work more closely with global partners on areas including intelligent production, materials development and industry talent.

The companies describe the change as a commitment to the Chinese packaging market, which they say is closely tied to global supply chains. According to the release, China’s high production density drives demand for packaging materials and machinery across cardboard, films, filling and labelling systems. It also cites the country’s expanding consumer market, growth in e-commerce and rising demand for safe and “intelligent” packaging.

interpack China’s first edition under the new name will run from 16 – 18 November 2026.

The interpack alliance includes Messe Düsseldorf’s processing and packaging events in China, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and India, alongside the flagship interpack event in Düsseldorf.
