Sappi will present its flexible packaging portfolio at interpack 2026 in Düsseldorf, focusing on barrier papers for food, tea and confectionery applications.
Under the theme “Future-Proof Packaging Papers”, the company will highlight products including Guard Pro OHS, Guard Pro OMH, Guard Twist and Guard Duo, designed for applications such as chocolate and other confectionery.
The portfolio is structured into three segments: SEAL, GUARD and GUARD PRO, to provide clarity when selecting materials. The SEAL range includes heat-sealable papers for primary and secondary food and non-food packaging applications, such as Seal Silk, Seal Silk G and Seal Pure Silk, as well as Seal Natural and Seal Light variants.
The GUARD range provides barrier protection against water vapour, grease and mineral oil, with or without heat-sealability. Variants include Guard M, Guard MS, Guard Duo and Guard Twist, designed for products such as baking powder, pasta, rice, cereals, sweets, chocolate, ice cream cones or sleeves and tea.
The GUARD PRO range, including Guard Pro OHS, Guard Pro OHG, AvantGuard and the new Guard Pro OMH, is designed for applications requiring barrier protection against oxygen, water vapour, grease and mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOSH/MOAH). These papers are intended for products such as chocolate, powder coffee additives, tea, seasonings, soluble drinks and cheese.
At the show, Sappi will promote Guard Pro OHS in gloss and natural uncoated versions, alongside Guard Pro OMH, which will be presented to the international packaging market.
Beyond flexible packaging, Sappi will also present its Fusion liner and Algro paperboard ranges, as well as Parade Label wet glue papers for beverage and food labelling. The label papers are designed for high-speed production environments, including returnable bottle systems where wash-off performance is required, supporting consistent print performance, runnability, reduced variability and process stability.
The company said its materials support consistent colours, shades and brand appearance across packaging formats.
Sappi will also highlight consultancy and technical support services across material selection, printability optimisation, regulatory compliance and food contact requirements. Its technical teams work with converters and brand owners on machine runnability, barrier performance validation and the transition from plastic to paper-based structures, with the aim of reducing risk and development timelines and supporting implementation at scale.
Flavio Froehli, vice president marketing & sales at Sappi Europe, said, “As Europe’s packaging market faces tighter recyclability standards, extended producer responsibility schemes and rising performance requirements, success depends on solutions that run efficiently on existing filling lines, protect products effectively and meet recovery criteria, without eroding margins.”
At Hall 8a, Booth B35, Sappi will display packaging formats across confectionery, tea, food, including bakery and dairy, as well as beverage and non-food applications. The stand follows a department store-inspired concept, presenting a progression from paper reels and sheets through to finished packaging.
A café area at the stand will demonstrate paper-based applications, including a cinnamon roll packed in a mono-material, paper-based solution combining paperboard and high-barrier paper, alongside examples such as ice cream cone sleeves and tea packaging.
Sappi said all its papers are manufactured from renewable resources, are recyclable as mono-materials in the paper waste stream and are suitable for direct food contact. The range is available as FSC Mix Credit or PEFC certified on request, subject to availability.
