Set for 11 May at the Congress Center Düsseldorf, the event combines keynote insight, a senior-level panel, and structured networking designed to support career development across the processing and packaging value chain.

At the centre of the programme is keynote speaker Caroline Babendererde, head of sustainability mid Europe at Tetra Pak. With three decades of experience in environmental and sustainability management, Babendererde will frame the discussion around the intersection of sustainable packaging, talent development, and industry perception.

Her address is expected to reinforce packaging’s role in food safety and supply chain resilience, while also challenging the sector to better communicate its value to attract the next generation of talent. She will also highlight the ongoing need to normalise diversity and inclusion across all levels of the industry.

The panel session brings together a senior and diverse group of global leaders. Jill Evanko, CEO of Duravant, will offer a top-level executive perspective on transformation and growth. Dr Kerstin van Wijk of Henkel will provide insight into innovation across the packaging value chain.

Global industry leadership is represented by Luciana Pellegrino, president of the World Packaging Organisation, while Prof. Dr Julia Hartmann of EBS University will contribute a strategic and academic perspective on embedding sustainability into business practice.

Australia’s presence in the programme is significant. The panel will be moderated by Nerida Kelton, executive director of the Australasian Institute of Packaging and vice president Sustainability & Save Food at the World Packaging Organisation.

Kelton has been closely involved in shaping the Women in Packaging initiative since its inception at interpack 2023.

Also representing Australia is Shannon Doherty-Andall, chair of the sustainability working group at the International Fruit and Vegetable Juice Association, who will act as a Topic Ambassador in the event’s new “Topic Hubs” networking sessions.

These Topic Hubs, a new addition for 2026, are designed to facilitate practical, peer-to-peer exchange on themes including career pathways, personal branding, and future skills, supported by experts from organisations such as BASF and Taghleef Industries.

According to organisers at interpack 2026, the initiative reflects a broader shift in the industry, with diversity and talent development now recognised as central to long-term capability and growth.

The Women in Packaging programme continues to evolve as a platform for global dialogue, with its 2026 line-up underscoring both the depth of leadership in the sector and the increasing visibility of women shaping its future.
