Meypack has launched a new tray-lid case packing solution at interpack 2026, combining intermittent and continuous motion technologies to deliver high-speed performance in a compact footprint for flexible packaging formats.

Meypack's new VP 512 continuous motion tray-lid case packer is positioned as a hybrid solution that bridges the gap between traditional intermittent motion and larger continuous motion case packing systems.

Speaking with PKN Packaging News at the show, Klaus Vogel, director of sales, marketing and business development at Meypack, said the machine was designed to deliver the speed advantages of continuous motion systems while retaining a compact footprint more typical of intermittent motion equipment.

“Meypack has combined the best of both worlds,” Vogel explained, noting that conventional intermittent motion systems typically operate at around 20–25 cycles per minute, while larger continuous motion top-load systems generally begin at 35–40 cycles per minute and require significantly more floor space.

The new VP 512 tray-lid configuration targets output speeds of around 40 cycles per minute – equivalent to approximately 400 pouches per minute – for flexible packaging formats including pouches, sachets, bags and doy packs.

At the core of the machine are two key innovations: a dynamic paddle chain with integrated buffering capability and a parallel lid processing system that handles three lids simultaneously. According to Meypack, the buffering function allows products to continue feeding into the machine while completed formations are discharged, maintaining continuous product flow while reducing mechanical stress on delicate packs.

The parallel lid station performs pre-folding, gluing and compression of three lids in a single cycle, enabling high-speed operation while reducing load on individual components. Meypack says the system is particularly suited to flexible products requiring inner lids – an application area that has traditionally presented challenges for secondary packaging systems.

Key target applications include soft pouches for pet food and dairy products, with yoghurt pouches specifically highlighted during the interview. Vogel said food applications account for around 70 per cent of Meypack’s business globally.

The VP 512 also incorporates a range of process monitoring and quality assurance functions, including individual lid re-pick capability, programmed stop sequences to reduce waste, lid placement verification and RFID-identified format tooling designed to simplify changeovers and minimise operator error.

Jason Valente, technical sales manager at Australian and New Zealand distributor Perform Packaging Solutions, said the machine had already generated strong interest locally, with up to five systems expected to be shipped to the ANZ market in the coming months.

“These systems are very similar to the technology being demonstrated here at interpack,” Valente said. “We’re seeing increasing demand for faster manufacturing speeds and line consolidation, so we expect strong uptake in the region.”

Perform Packaging Solutions has represented Meypack in Australia and New Zealand for 28 years and has more than 100 Meypack machines installed across the local market, supported by a team of six service technicians.

Meypack, based in Nottuln, Germany, became part of the Aetna Group in 2022 and manufactures case packers, tray packers and end-of-line packaging systems for the food, dairy, beverage, pet food and consumer goods sectors.
