From 7-13 May, Düsseldorf will once again become the global hub for the processing and packaging industry, which this year will see 2800 exhibitors from 60 countries, with 142,000 visitors expected to attend – among them a strong Australasian contingent.

According to show organiser Messe Düsseldorf, interpack will bring together decision-makers, technology providers, start-ups and innovators from across the value chain, all focused on the shared challenge of shaping the future of processing and packaging in a rapidly changing market.

The Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) will be strongly represented, with some of its members exhibiting and others on the stands of their international parent companies and principals. Many of the new  technologies introduced by these companies at interpack will make their Australian debut at appex 2027.

With Messe Dusseldorf, APPMA will also be co-hosting a networking event for Australian and New Zealand attendees on 9 May at 4pm in the International Lounge.

The event’s core themes reflect the most pressing issues facing the industry today. Smart manufacturing will be front and centre, with AI-supported systems, automation, robotics and data-driven processes redefining productivity, quality and resource efficiency across production environments. Innovative materials will also take a prominent role, from circular and bio-based solutions through to high-performance designs that balance protection, functionality and sustainability. A third major focus is future skills, examining how people, technology and new competencies intersect as manufacturing becomes increasingly digital and automated.

Beyond the exhibition stands, interpack 2026 will offer a range of dedicated platforms designed to encourage exchange, insight and visibility. The Start-up Zone will showcase young companies pitching new ideas and disruptive technologies, while the SPOTLIGHT Forum will host expert-led talks and discussions on key industry topics.

More than a trade fair, interpack positions itself as a global platform where strategies are debated, partnerships are forged and innovations move from concept to commercial impact.
