Dairy manufacturer Ballantyne has launched an artisan rolled butter in crafted wrapping.

Each roll is individually hand packed for an on-shelf look that would usually be seen at a providore or delicatessen.

The shaped medallion of cultured-style, unsalted butter is the first of the company’s new premium rolled range, with further new releases planned for 2017 in Woolworths stores.

The material used is a matt lacquer foil which creates the paper-type look.

The company said it chose this material to give the product an "earthy and artisan" look.
