Amcor has introduced a recycle-ready polypropylene (PP) dip cup and lidding solution for condiments, dressings and sauces, to help brands meet evolving sustainability regulations and consumer expectations.

The PP Revolution portfolio includes premade dip cup arrays and compatible lidding options, designed as an alternative to traditional polystyrene. The solution supports recyclability and is intended to help brands respond to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements as they develop.

“PP Revolution is designed to help brands move forward as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements evolve,” said Sarah Paleg, sustainability director, Amcor Flexibles North America. “Our PP Revolution platform is a recycle-ready solution that supports improved recyclability claims today and prepares our customers for the regulatory realities of tomorrow.”

The dip cups are designed to work with existing filling equipment, allowing manufacturers to transition without major operational changes. Amcor said the packaging also offers an improved barrier compared with traditional formats. The range is available in 10 sizes, from 0.5 oz to 2.0 oz, in clear, white opaque and custom colours.

The cups can be paired with Amcor’s EZ Peel lidding portfolio, including metallised, foil and AmPrima recycle-ready options.

“Today’s consumers expect packaging that’s easy to use, locks in freshness and is aligned with their sustainability values,” said Kevin Glaser, vice president and general manager at liquid, Amcor Flexibles North America. “PP Revolution was designed to elevate the dip cup experience, from easy open lidding and portion appropriate sizes to premium aesthetics, while helping brands move forward with recycle ready packaging.”

Select sizes of the PP dip cups are rated “Preferred” under the APR Design Guide for Size Sorting Potential. According to the company, this can support recyclability claims and potential EPR fee advantages. How2Recycle prequalification is available for some sizes.

The PP Revolution range expands Amcor’s portfolio of recyclable packaging formats, which also includes PET Revolution barrier cup stock.

Aimee Johns, senior marketing manager at liquid, Amcor Flexibles North America, said the development supports the foodservice sector as regulations change, adding that customers can begin testing and scale-up “within as little as six weeks”.
