World Expo of Packaging Industry – Southeast Asia (WEPSEA) 2026 has concluded after three days of exhibitions, conferences and business forums focused on the technologies and market forces reshaping Southeast Asia’s packaging and printing industries.
The Indonesia-based trade show brought together packaging manufacturers, converters, technology and material suppliers, brand owners, industry associations and professional buyers from across the region.
Automation, manufacturing efficiency, sustainable production and greater operational flexibility emerged as key themes, reflecting changing investment priorities in Southeast Asia’s expanding consumer markets.
According to the organisers, packaging businesses across the region are looking beyond increases in production capacity to address product quality, labour availability, resource efficiency and the need to respond to shorter product life cycles and more customised orders.
Food safety, Halal compliance, environmental performance and the requirements of international supply chains were also prominent in discussions between exhibitors and visitors.
Technology showcased at the event covered the packaging value chain, including corrugated packaging, folding cartons, flexible packaging, digital printing, converting equipment, intelligent manufacturing systems and packaging materials.
Live demonstrations and technical discussions focused on how these technologies could help manufacturers improve productivity and quality, reduce waste and optimise the use of materials and other resources.
The accompanying conference program explored smart packaging, artificial intelligence in manufacturing, material innovation, e-commerce packaging, Halal packaging, supply chain resilience and sustainable production.
Practical workshops addressed printing quality management, defect prevention, colour consistency and production optimisation. The Business Forum Pack ID also examined digital procurement, consumer brand development and policy trends influencing the region’s printing and packaging markets.
WEPSEA 2026 attracted representatives and delegations from packaging and printing bodies across Asia. Participating organisations included the Indonesian Packaging Federation, Malaysian Corrugated Carton Manufacturers’ Association, Corrugated Box Manufacturers Association Singapore, Thai Corrugated Packaging Association and Association Corrugated Converting Indonesia.
Other participating bodies included the Bangladesh Institute of Packaging, Malaysia Printing Association, Hong Kong Corrugated Paper Manufacturers’ Association, Packaging Development Federation, PRINTPACK Indonesia and Indonesia’s corrugated packaging association AKKGI.
The associations supported conference sessions, delegation visits, technical exchanges and networking between manufacturers, suppliers, brand owners and buyers.
The organisers said the level of regional participation demonstrated the growing role of WEPSEA as a platform connecting Southeast Asian packaging businesses with international expertise and technology.
They also identified knowledge sharing and collaboration as important contributors to industry development, particularly as regional supply chains become more closely connected and packaging producers respond to changing regulatory, commercial and consumer requirements.
Following the 2026 event, WEPSEA plans to continue building its role as a regional forum for packaging and printing technology, industry collaboration and sustainable manufacturing.
