A wealth of new technologies will be on display at AUSPACK 2019 in Melbourne next week, and organisers are urging companies in the food and packaging supply chain to register before the show.

Billed as the largest-ever AUSPACK, 2019 is set to be an exciting year for Australia’s leading packaging and processing event, according to Anne-Marie Mina, marketing director of organiser Exhibitions and Trade Fairs (ETF).

“This year is the largest floor space ever, and exhibition space on the show floor still sold six months before the event,” she said.

“This is the show’s 34th year and it just keeps growing. That’s exceptional for this category of trade show, but the reason is because AUSPACK is the event that attracts key industry players, so has for many, many years been a showcase of cutting-edge, innovative packaging and processing technologies. It’s all under one roof and entry is free. It offers visitors so much value.”

Companies displaying new solutions include Axelent Australia at stand C115, with its range of pedestrian protection; CPS and its SIAT ProWrap stretch wrapper on stand B150; Esko Australia’s new Langguth labeller on stand B170; and a new metal detection and checkweigh combination from Matthews on stand D140. Matthews will also announce a major milestone at the event.

“Showing the true value of AUSPACK to visitors, after 2017 – which was the largest Sydney event to date – there was some great feedback: more than half the visitors over the four days said AUSPACK was the only industry show that they needed to attend, with over 90 per cent satisfied with the technology on display,” said Mina.

Entries are now open for the annual Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards. Open to commercial food producers of all sizes, it is one of the largest programs of its kind. 

Victorian brewery, Bodriggy Brewing Co, is the first brewery in the state to achieve carbon-neutral certification and only the second in Australia to do so. The independent Abbotsford-based brewery achieved certification under the federal government’s Climate Active program.

According to Rabobank data, Australian consumers are facing higher chocolate prices heading into Easter, with retail chocolate prices up 8.8 per cent on the previous year as global cocoa prices soar.
