Speakers have been announced for the 2017 National Technical Forums that will run alongside Auspack next month.

Eight international speakers and 42 local speakers will cover a vast range of topics from 7-10 March.

The forums, which are co-ordinated by the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) and the APPMA, have been running during the last seven Auspack exhibitions, delivering an educational program relating to Innovation and design.

Keynote speakers will include Tanya Barden, director of economics and sustainability at the Australian Food and Grocery Council; Christopher Vains, manager of Digital Factory at Siemens; Sara Agostino, research analyst at Euromonitor International; John Bigley, MD of Jamestrong Packaging; Dr Angeline Achariya, CEO of Food Innovation Centre, and Trish Hyde, CEO of the Australian Packaging Covenant.

Blackmores' Jackie Smiles shares sustainability success

Don't miss Jackie Smiles MAIP, Environment and Sustainability Manager, Blackmores present a paper on why Blackmores were APC's Signatory of the year on Friday the 10th of March at the National Technical Forums alongside of AUSPACK 2017. Blackmores was recognised as the Australian Packaging Covenant’s ‘Signatory of the Year’ at the 2016 Awards, with the highest overall performance in the last reporting period. As a founding signatory, the organisation continues to demonstrate its long-term commitment to packaging sustainability. Managing the Blackmores global sustainability program, Jackie will discuss the company’s approach to sustainability highlighting key elements and achievements. Jackie will also discuss influences and behaviours required to drive successful implementation and results.

Need to understand the Circular Economy?

If you are wanting to better understand the Circular Economy then don't miss Session Two on Friday the 10th of March at the National Technical Forums that will be held alongside AUSPACK 2017. Speakers on this session will include David Hodge, Managing Director, Plastic Forests who will be discussing "Making the circular economy work for contaminated PE films,' Steve Davies Director Corporate Communications Public Affairs, NatureWorks who will be discussing "Plastics in Packaging: A Circular Economy Blueprint', Dr Helen Lewis FAIP, Principal, Helen Lewis Research who will be speaking on "Global trends in product stewardship: Implications for the Australian packaging industry" and Rowan Williams, Chairman, Australasian Bioplastics Association who will present "Re-Thinking progress: A global understanding of the circular economy'. 

CEO of PEFC International Switzerland talks responible pacakging

Another reason why you should be booking a ticket to attend the 2017 National Technical Forums alongside AUSPACK is to hear Ben Gunneberg, Chief Executive Officer, PEFC International from Switzerland present a paper on "Responsible packaging, from Forests to Consumers. How PEFC is working to grow availability of certified forest based materials from sustainably managed forests."

Other international speakers will include representatives from PMMI, KHS AG, and Nature Works.
