The owners of AUSPACK, the Australian Packaging & Processing Machinery Association (APPMA), and the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) will run the Packaging & Processing Innovation and Design Awards (PIDA) for Australia at AUSPACK 2017.

PIDA will recognise companies and individuals who are making a significant difference in their field.

The Design Innovation of the Year company awards will recognise organisations that have designed innovative packaging and processing materials and solutions, innovative packaging and processing machinery/ equipment within each of these four manufacturing categories:

  1. Food
  2. Beverage
  3. Health, Beauty & Wellness
  4. Domestic & Household.

In addition, there will be two special company awards:

1. Sustainable Packaging & Processing
2. Save Food Packaging & Processing.

And three individual awards:

1. Young Packaging & Processing Professional of the Year
2. Industry Packaging & Processing Professional of the Year
3. The APPMA Scholarship.

The PIDA Awards are the exclusive award program for all Australian entries into the WorldStar Packaging Awards.

The winning products of the 2025 Healthy Food Guide Awards have been announced, with over 150 products from across supermarket shelves recognised for their nutritional value, including Allied Pinnacle’s high-fibre flour collaboration with Woolworths.

Visy has completed a $30 million upgrade to its 100 per cent recycled paper mill on Gibson Island in Brisbane, which will manufacture new grades of paper for corrugated boxes used by Queensland farmers and food and beverage businesses.

The Cadbury Factory waterfront parklands in Hobart, Tasmania, are receiving a makeover, as Australian chocolate consumption continues to drop. The $150 million attraction is set to open in 2027, with Cadbury acting as brand partner.
