Since the announcement of the evolution of leading Australian processing and packaging event AUSPACK to APPEX, with its inaugural event slated for March 2024, industry response has been overwhelmingly positive according to show owner Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA).

Taking place at its new permanent home, the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC), APPEX 2024 will be 40 per cent bigger than its predecessor AUSPACK, last held in 2022. Just over a year out from the show, APPEX 2024 floor space is already 70 per cent sold.

Melbourne's MCEC will be the permanent home of APPEX, to be staged in a three-year cycle after the inaugural show in March 2024.

The show is positioned as “the new all-of-industry event uniting all sectors of the Australasian processing and packaging industry”, with exhibits covering processing and packaging machinery; robotics and automation; materials and end-use packaging; food processing technology; digital printing, labelling and coding; logistics and handling; ancillary equipment; and industry services.

Director at show organiser Exhibitions & Trade Fairs (ETF), Jon Perry said, “The expanded show floor will house dedicated zones for all sectors of the industry, and by offering a broader proposition the show will attract a wider audience and deliver increased sales opportunities.”

Perry confirmed the newly branded show will run every three years from March 2024, and always in Melbourne.

ETF has also developed new corporate entertainment options. Perry said, “The new APPEX Networking Hubs and APPEX Show Restaurant provide new opportunities to meet and entertain existing and prospective clients all within the show environment.”

Both ETF and APPMA are confident that APPEX 2024 is “set to be the biggest manufacturing trade show revolution”.

For companies who have not yet signed up, you can contact ETF for a copy of the floorplan and find out how your business can be part of APPEX 2024.

End Food Waste Australia (EFWA) and Hort Innovation have launched a new research program to tackle the challenges of harvest surplus and losses on-farm – a $2.5 billion opportunity for vegetable growers.

The federal government has confirmed it will not proceed with the Tax Laws Amendment (Incentivising Food Donations to Charitable Organisations) Bill 2024, saying the legislation contains “deficiencies that compromise its policy intent”, even as food insecurity remains at record levels across Australia.

A lot of food and beverage brands look strong when they’re small. They have one product, one pack, one clear idea and then they grow. That’s usually when things start to unravel, not all at once, but quickly enough to matter. The Creative Method founder and creative director, Tony Ibbotson, explains why – and growth is not the problem.
