A leak detecting system from Australian OEM Profile Solutions offers simple operation, high accuracy and low cost – at world leading speeds.

Award-winning Australian company Profile Solutions, supplier of leak detection systems, blow moulding machinery and injection moulding robots, demonstrated its high speed 6LD leak tester at international trade shows K and PackExpo last year.

Profile Solutions has been making leak testers since 1993, and exports to 35 countries.

MD Thomas Mitchell says that at the plastics show K2013, the company showed a 240 ml (to the neck) bottle being tested at 11,600 bottles per hour on one head and found a 0.18mm hole.

“At that time I thought that the maximum you could test any bottle, on one head, was around 12,500 bottles per hour. I was wrong!

“Around one year ago we tested an 'ideal' small bottle at a world record run of 17,475 bottles per hour on one head (290 per minute) and found a 0.18mm hole.”

The company tested the same bottle at K2016 at 13,400 bottles per hour – a 15% increase on what was already an incredibly fast machine.

According to Profile Solutions, the benefits of this machine speed are:

  • Simpler operation on one head

  • Extends the limit where you need a multi-head

  • Relatively inexpensive

  • Reliable

  • In an inline multi-head format, we can save the cost of having to go to a travelling head or a small rotary.

“ The standard 6LD tests small bottles like the small ideal one at rates up to 14,500 per hour. This machine has some additional hardware and software, but is not a great leap in cost. The customer can send it only if they need it,” Mitchell says. He notes that the 6LD on some jobs can be less than 40% of the price from leading USA and European suppliers.

Profile Solutions offers a full range of leak detectors, including the 2LD for up to 3600 small bottles an hour; the 4LD up to 4500 small bottles per hour, with an Ethernet connection for Industry 4.0; the 6LD single head; 6LD multi head for medium range bottles up to 18,000 hour and more.
