WPO to unpack PFAS compliance under EU PPWR

The World Packaging Organisation (WPO) will host a webinar on Monday 9 March at 10.00am CET to examine the implications of PFAS restrictions under the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

From 12 August 2026, the PPWR will introduce restrictions on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in food-contact packaging. The regulation also addresses substances of concern and recycled content requirements, both of which may have flow-on implications for PFAS content in other packaging formats.

The session will explore what the new requirements mean for businesses selling into Europe and provide guidance on the updated Declaration of Conformity. A novel methodology for PFAS risk assessment will also be presented, aimed at helping companies understand exposure, assess compliance risks and prepare for the upcoming obligations.

Speakers include Dr Manfred Tacker, Chief Scientific Officer at Circular Analytics and Packaging Cockpit, and Lina Wimmer MSc, Senior Consultant Circularity at Circular Analytics. The webinar will be moderated by Dr Johannes Bergmair CPP, General Secretary of the World Packaging Organisation.

Registration is now open here.
