The AIPIA & AWA Smart Packaging World Congress 2026 will take place on 20–21 May in Amsterdam, Netherlands, bringing together brand owners, end users, technology providers, and packaging experts to examine the implementation of smart and connected packaging at scale.

Key topics include:

  • Connected Consumer Engagement – Turning packaging into a media channel using QR codes and smart tags to build loyalty, trust, capture first-party data, and enable post-purchase interaction.
  • Smart Solutions to Reduce Food Waste – Using real-time data and intelligent packaging to protect product integrity while supporting ESG objectives.
  • Supply Chain Traceability & Authentication – Protecting brand equity through secure identification, anti-counterfeiting measures, and real-time visibility.

Other sessions cover the EU Digital Product Passport, the adoption of the GS1 2D Barcode, and supply and cold chain intelligence.

The Congress is structured around three tracks: Connected Brands & Consumer Experience; Sustainability & Circular Innovation; and Supply Chain Intelligence & Data Management. A live Brand Challenge 2026 will see a brand present a packaging problem while solution providers respond on stage in real time.

The 2026 Congress is supported by Dracula Technologies, Identiv, Markem-Imaje, ETI Converting, and Toppan.
