The Australasian Institute of Packaging (AIP) will host a State of Industry webinar on 9 July focused on the Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), with a focus on compliance requirements and packaging data management.

The session will address the Declaration of Conformity, technical documentation and PFAS requirements, alongside a demonstration of the Packaging Cockpit tool for managing PPWR data.

The webinar will outline the role of the Declaration of Conformity (DOC), a legally binding self-declaration confirming that all packaging components sold into Europe meet PPWR requirements. It will also cover technical documentation, which provides evidence to support compliance claims. Both are mandatory for companies supplying packaging into the European market.

Topics include PPWR general requirements, economic operators, PFAS requirements, and the conformity assessment procedure, including the DOC and technical documentation.

Lina Wimmer, senior consultant at Circular Analytics, and Manfred Tucker, managing director at Circular Analytics, will present the regulatory session.

The second part of the webinar will introduce Packaging Cockpit, a global packaging specification management software. The tool enables companies to calculate technical recyclability and life cycle assessment, and manage packaging data across supply chains, including supplier interfaces and packaging specifications. A basic version is available free of charge.

The session will also cover how the system supports PPWR compliance, enables recyclability and life cycle assessment calculations, supports structured data exchange with suppliers, and facilitates the creation of the Declaration of Conformity and technical documentation.

According to the AIP, the system can also be used to meet extended producer responsibility requirements across multiple jurisdictions, with country-specific evaluations and broader packaging portfolio management functions.

The webinar is open to industry, and AIP educational events contribute CPD points towards the Certified Packaging Professional designation.
