Yates has introduced a new hose-on garden care range using a pouch packaging system designed to reduce mess and simplify application.

The Click & Grow garden care system comprises a hose trigger device and interchangeable concentrated pouches. According to the company, the system allows users to vary dilution rates depending on the product and provides equivalent coverage to standard hose-on products. The pouches are inserted directly into the device, eliminating the need for direct product contact or mixing.

The pouches are made using a laminate Doy-style format with a connector and one-way valve, which Yates says prevents leaks and ensures safe use.

Liza Vernalls, ANZ quality and packaging innovation manager, told PKN the development of the system followed “an intensive and iterative development process over the past two years”.

“We have gone from designs on paper to a fully functional system in a short period of time,” Vernalls said.

She added, “We would not be here without the key partnerships of IVM Group and Global Sourcing Solutions who have been key to our success.”

The company describes the Click & Grow system as using a mix dial and spray pattern selector that enables users to control product concentration. The application process involves connecting the pouch to the hose trigger, selecting the settings, and flushing the trigger after use.

The range includes three starter kit options and eight refills:

  • Yates Weed’n’Feed
  • Yates Dynamic Lifter Lawn Food & Soil Improver
  • Yates Dynamic Lifter Plant Food & Soil Improver
  • Munns Professional Golf Course Green Complete Lawn Fertiliser
  • Yates Lawn Weed Killer Bindii & Clover
  • Yates Lawn Weed Killer Bindii & Clover Buffalo Lawn
  • Seasol Complete Garden Health Treatment
  • Seasol Power Feed
