Packaging is a collector's item: Vegemite is releasing a limited edition commemorative fine silver mini jar replica range, designed to celebrate the 100th birthday of Australia’s iconic spread.

“Vegemite searched high and low to create special 100th birthday commemorative memorabilia for Aussies to treasure for years to come, and we’re delighted to be releasing limited-edition fine silver replica mini jars for Vegemite’s most avid fans and collectors alike,” said Jess Hoare, marketing manager for Vegemite Bega Group.

Featuring an intricately detailed design that celebrates the iconic Vegemite jar and its historic label, this fine silver mini jar replica is available in petite one ounce and three-ounce sizes.

The first 500 purchases of the one ounce mini jar and the first 500 purchases of the three ounce mini jar may also be lucky enough to receive an 18-karat gold-plated version.

Each silver mini jar is paired with a certificate of authenticity which specifies the silver’s weight, origin, and metal fineness, certifying that the product is a genuine, authorised piece of Vegemite memorabilia.

A spokesperson for Vegemite told PKN the jar replica design was based off a historic Vegemite label, adapted in fine silver form by Melbourne Gold and Silver. They also clarified that the replicas are solid silver, and not a usable form of packaging.

Managing director of Melbourne Gold and Silver, Chris Kerrison explained, “We’re thrilled to be working with Vegemite to create this unique product that celebrates an icon in its 100th year. The silver jars have been designed to appeal to collectors who want to own a piece of Australian history.
