Bonson Packaging's RePlay Returnables system claimed its third gold medal of the 2026 PIDA Awards, winning the Marketing Design category for demonstrating how packaging itself can become a customer engagement platform.

Rather than relying solely on visual appeal, the reusable container system integrates digital functionality into the customer experience. Consumers link containers to their account through Tap to RePlay technology, encouraging return and reuse while reinforcing participation in the circular packaging system. The judges recognised packaging that extends beyond branding to influence purchasing behaviour and customer interaction.

Costa Group, Result Group and The Packaging Hippie received silver for Ecomark Natural Branding, while Pure Australia took bronze for G'day Honey Anti Dust Spray Propolis & Kakadu Plum.

The award underlines the growing role packaging plays not only in attracting consumers on shelf, but also in building ongoing engagement throughout the product lifecycle. All winners are eligible for entry into the 2027 WorldStar Packaging Awards.

Food and beverage manufacturers are facing a warehouse space crisis, and most of them did not see it coming. Production expanded, storage followed and over time, an organised operation became a fragmented footprint of disconnected warehouses, rising third-party costs, and a site nobody would have designed on purpose. Swisslog ANZ director of sales, Steve Dimitrovski, examines why the space problem is structural and how automation is helping manufacturers solve it without building a new site.

NSW Food and Beverage manufacturers are invited to join an upcoming information session at the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) to learn about funding and support available to help businesses innovate, grow and improve competitiveness.
