Bonson Packaging's RePlay Returnables system claimed one of its three gold medals in the 2026 PIDA Awards in the Labelling & Decoration category for integrating digital traceability into a reusable packaging system.

Each reusable polypropylene container incorporates a dishwasher-resistant variable-data in-mould label carrying a unique scannable code that enables every container to be tracked from purchase through return, cleaning and reuse. Consumers connect containers to their account using Tap to RePlay technology, supporting a borrow-and-return system designed for up to 50 reuse cycles.

Beyond product identification, the labelling system forms part of the operational performance of the pack. QR technology allows Bonson to monitor reuse cycles while directing consumers to information explaining how the returnable system works. The containers themselves have also been designed to improve hygiene, with smooth radiused surfaces that minimise food residue and support efficient washing between uses.

Costa Group, Result Group and The Packaging Hippie received silver for Ecomark Natural Branding, while MCC Label Australia (Asia Pacific) took bronze for EL TORO Tequila Blanco.
