Replacing plastic shrink wrap with a kerbside recyclable fibre solution has earned Graphic Packaging International and Asahi Beverages top honours in the 2026 Beverage Packaging Design category.
The gold-winning Carlton Dry 6x330ml Bottle Shrink Replacement Wrap replaces the traditional plastic-wrapped six-pack with a fibreboard alternative that reduces single-use plastic while maintaining product protection, production efficiency and consumer convenience.
The design uses rigid fibreboard walls to absorb impacts and protect bottles during transport, while a glue-free tab-and-slot construction simplifies assembly and improves packing efficiency. Bottle necks remain exposed to reinforce product quality and brand recognition, while full-colour 360-degree printing provides strong shelf presentation.
Consumer usability was also central to the design, with integrated finger holes, easy-access openings and a tightly wrapped structure that securely holds bottles in place without compromising handling or stacking performance.
Woolworths received silver for its 600ml Spring Water packaging, while Interpack took bronze for capR.
The Beverage Packaging Design category recognises innovation across alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, with all gold winners progressing to the 2027 WorldStar Packaging Awards
