Mt Elephant is introducing a paper-based packaging format for its new Mix & Pour pancake range, replacing the plastic-heavy design typically used in shaker-style mixes.
The company says the format is intended to significantly reduce single-use plastic while maintaining the convenience associated with ready-to-use pancake mixes.
The fibre-based linear formed composite cyclinder and paper-based overcap is supplied by Zipform Packaging.
The range, available in Original and Buttermilk, is rolling out nationally in Coles and independent retailers across Australia.
Natalie Butler, CEO of Elixinol Wellness, said the move reflects changing consumer expectations around packaging and ingredients. “As consumers become increasingly conscious about both nutrition and sustainability, we saw an opportunity to rethink what convenient pancake mixes could look like,” she said.
“The new Mix & Pour range has been designed to deliver the simplicity consumers love, while significantly reducing plastic packaging and continuing to champion wholefood ingredients.”
The launch sits within a broader strategy for Mt Elephant focused on sustainable packaging and clean-label products, alongside collaborations in the natural food category, including an upcoming product with Pic’s Peanut Butter.
The product uses wholefood ingredients and targets the breakfast and baking category.
