Whisky leader Johnnie Walker has revealed the design for its 2019 Lunar New Year Limited Edition Blue Label series, celebrating the Year of the Pig.

The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year of the Pig is the sixth instalment in the series, with the 2019 edition designed by London-based design agency, Bloom.

The intricate detailing of the design is individually illustrated and numbered across each bottle, where around 7,800 will be available for purchase in Australia.

Diageo assistant brand manager for scotch Ruari Maginn said the Blue Label Lunar New Year series is a popular gift for consumers to give during the season, particularly for milestone years.

“Consumers have responded incredibly well to the Limited Edition Johnnie Walker Blue Label Chinese New Year bottles and we have seen retail purchase grow 150 per cent over the past three years,” he said.

“[This year], the Pig and overall design evoke culturally familiar cues but also exude prosperity, which is the theme for the year.”

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year of the Pig Limited Edition Design will be available to purchase nationally from all major liquor retailers from early December.
