Packaging produced by QLM Group’s flexibles division for confectionery brand The Australian Sweet Co has won the Packaging category at the 2026 National Print Awards.
Announced at the awards presentation in Brisbane on 4 June, the winning entry impressed judges with its vibrant design, print execution and use of Australian wildlife imagery.

“Packaging so bright and full of personality, it practically flies off the shelf,” the judges said. They praised the “beautiful design, exceptional print quality and creative use of Australia’s iconic cockatoo”.
The packaging forms part of The Australian Sweet Co's brittle range, which uses native Australian birds as a central design theme. The family-owned confectionery manufacturer produces traditional sweets including brittles, rock candy, aniseed and gobstoppers, with products made in Australia using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
According to owner Donna Maro, the company places a strong emphasis on supporting local suppliers.
“We’ve made a conscious decision to use locally made, and if that’s not possible, to use Australian companies to source alternatives,” she said.
Produced by QLM Flexibles in Melbourne, the packaging was printed on an HP Indigo digital press using a metallic substrate that delivers both food-safe performance and extended shelf life while creating distinctive foil effects on shelf.
The judges highlighted the combination of strong graphic design and high-quality print reproduction, which helped the packaging stand out in a competitive category.
The award adds to a growing list of industry recognition for The Australian Sweet Co. Its Whiskey, Cashew and Caramel Brittle packaging has also been shortlisted in the 2026 Digital Labels & Packaging Awards in the UK.
For QLM, the National Print Award reinforces the capabilities of its flexible packaging division and the growing role digital printing continues to play in delivering premium packaging outcomes for food brands.
