The purchases were made at LOUPE Americas last week, according to Mark Daws, director of Labels & Packaging at Currie Group, which supplies both technologies in Australia and New Zealand. Daws described the investment as a move to strengthen Labelmakers’ pressure-sensitive label and flexible packaging capabilities. Installation is yet to take place.

The HP Indigo 200K is a mid-web digital press designed for flexible packaging as well as label applications. The ABG Digicon S3 adds digital finishing capability. Labelmakers already uses HP Indigo technology for variable-data promotions and short-run work; the latest purchases extend its digital equipment base.

The investment follows Labelmakers’ acquisition of flexible packaging machinery assets from Perfection Packaging at Dandenong South earlier this year. That transaction added gravure printing and solventless lamination equipment, with the site intended to operate alongside Labelmakers’ existing Somerton facility.

The latest investment broadens Labelmakers’ digital capability as the company builds out its flexible packaging operations at Dandenong South and Somerton.
