This standalone unit employs cobots to automate reel loading, holding up to 18 reels so manufacturers can operate labelling machines without manual reel changes throughout a shift. Sidel states that automation guarantees “100 per cent accuracy” and minimises the risk of unplanned machine stoppages due to manual errors or uploading delays.

Antonio Mancino, product manager of labelling at Sidel, said, “Our customers are looking for ways to work smarter, with fewer resources and in a more efficient and intelligent way. With CoboREEL, automating reel uploading not only frees workers from repetitive tasks but also allows them to focus on value-added activities where their input is critical.”

The unit can handle different label types and designs without requiring manual adjustments. Sidel says CoboREEL has been designed to be intuitive and easy to use, requiring minimal technical expertise and no maintenance, which helps lower total cost of ownership.

As a mobile standalone unit, CoboREEL can be deployed across different modules in a production facility, giving manufacturers flexibility in plant operations. Its low energy consumption of less than 0.5kWh is positioned by the company as part of efforts to reduce environmental impact.

Looking ahead, Sidel notes that increasing beverage demand, particularly for packaged water and carbonated drinks, makes CoboREEL a strategic tool for producers aiming to cut costs and boost efficiency in high-volume production.
