At Foodpro, Matthews Australasia will be showing off its range of coding, labelling, vision and product traceability solutions.

General manager of operations, Mark Dingley, said, “We’re anticipating a lot of interest in vision inspection, as well as our new checkweighing range.”

One of its new star performers is a weigh-price labelling system.

Matthews can integrate the user-friendly and easy-to-service Bizerba GLM-I systems into a network, or they can be used as stand-alone machines.

Packages - even those of varying height and alignment - are correctly and automatically forwarded, aligned, weighed and labelled. Speeds range from 70 to 170 packages per minute. The modular machine may be expanded with single or multiple belts and an optional turning/alignment station. Even if expanded to its maximum, only a single GT-12C user terminal is needed to control all the machines.

A wide range of labels can be used. The LDI 160 label dispenser provides a module for all label formats: decorative, seals or full-cover packaging labels. The Bizerba intelligent TTI system label ensures complete re-traceability along the entire cold chain. The GLM-I range is networkable and will grow with a manufacturer’s needs.

In conjunction with iQVision, Matthews will demonstrate its vision systems and show how any size business can incorporate this technology for inspection, guidance, identification, measurement, tracking and counting, across a range of industries. Vision systems may be used to inspect barcodes, validate label presence and positioning, check closures, inspect product fill levels and content, and sort products based on marking.

On show, too, will be the Linx thermal transfer overprinters (TTO). This range codes on to flexible packaging films and self-adhesive labels of snack foods, confectionary and fresh produce to print date and batch codes, logos, product descriptions, ingredients lists, nutritional panels and fully compliant barcodes. The IP-rated version is ideal for washdown food manufacturing environments
