United Caps is expanding its carton packaging closure portfolio, offering manufacturers an alternative sourcing option that allows them to retain existing carton materials and filling equipment.

The Luxembourg-based closure manufacturer says its 23 H-PAK closure is compatible with existing carton packaging systems, including tethered and non-tethered lines, without requiring equipment modifications or changes to machine settings.

The approach allows packaging manufacturers and brand owners to source closures independently rather than purchasing the carton material, closure and associated equipment through a single supplier.

United Caps says this provides greater procurement flexibility and reduces reliance on a single supply relationship.

Its established 23 H-PAK closure is available in a tethered configuration that locks in the open position, keeping the cap clear of the pouring area.

The company has also completed testing and validation of its new 27 H-PAK closure, designed for aluminium and aluminium-free carton structures, with commercial launch scheduled for the end of 2027.

Both closures can be manufactured using mass-balanced biobased resin or recycled material, providing options for customers preparing for the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

“A closure is one component of the carton pack. Buyers should be able to evaluate and source it according to the same technical and commercial criteria as any other component, without changing the rest of the line. We are here to give buyers that choice,” said Alan Quéméneur, chief growth officer at United Caps.

The closures are intended for applications including dairy products, juice, stocks, soups and selected non-liquid products.

United Caps is represented in Australia by Caps & Closures.
