APPMA is a gold sponsor and industry partner at the upcoming Print21 + PKN New Frontiers in Packaging Print LIVE event, which will see over 170 industry professionals gather in Sydney on Monday 12 August.

Four APPMA members are actively participating in the event, Currie Group, Kodak, Jet Technologies and Matthews, with other members, including Foodmach, Scott Automation, Fibre King, Orora and Result Packaging, attending on the day.

The audience of delegates already registered comprises a mix of brand and pack designers, brand owners, FMCG retailers, and packaging and label printers. Brand owners attending include Archie Rose, Lion, Campari, Nestle, Kirks/ Kelloggs, Snack Brands, McPhersons, Simplot, Campbell Arnott's, Taylors Wines, Woolworths Foodco and Woolworths Own Brand, among others.

Sustainability, brand protection, digitisation of packaging, personalisation and new design directions will be among the hot topics explored at the LIVE forum.

A highlight of the day will be the session focusing on the role printed packaging takes in driving consumer engagement, in which augmented reality developer Dreemar will be demonstrating an on-the-day AR experience and app developed especially for the LIVE event in collaboration with Campbell Arnott's. Dreemar is the company which developed the recent AR experience off the AUSPACK cover of PKN (March-April issue).

Food & Drink Business

Fonterra has announced Anna Palairet is the new chief operating officer, having acted in the role since June 2023. CEO Miles Hurrell says Palairet has “extensive experience in operational, customer, sustainability, and sales roles”.

Food & Drink Business editor Kim Berry's take on the big news stories this week, and what caught her eye overseas. How will the Future Made in Australia Act actually be delivered? Shanghai trials traffic light labelling, and Solar Food, making protein out of (virtually) nothing at all, opens its commercial scale facility (that's it in the pic).

Food Frontier’s industry leading annual alternative proteins conference, AltProteins 24, is on in Melbourne on 10 October, with early bird tickets now available.
